EDLD 5363 Web Conference Reflections

Web Conference Reflection 1

The June 5, 2013 conference was very informative and helpful.  We discussed what was being asked of us in the week one assignment. We also got a chance to form our groups for our final project. Professor Abernathy stated that she encourages us to collaborate and get feedback from our peers on assignments and projects. Being able to collaborate and interact with my colleagues has been a savior during this process. I have to admit that I was totally confused at the start of this course but the web conference cleared up a lot of my concerns and worries. I am looking forward to completing my digital story with Windows Live Movie Maker.

 Web Conference Reflection 2

The web conference on June 12, 2013 was truly needed! There was a ton of confusion in regards to what was required for this week’s assignment. It appears that the syllabus and assignment in Blackboard are worded differently and Professor Abernathy states that we should always follow the syllabus for assignments. She also stressed that the focus of this week’s assignment was to get an understanding of file extensions and how to properly save and transfer them to other Web 2.0 tools successfully.  We spoke a bit about Creative Commons and that we should post our scripts with the Creative Commons added to the discussion boards as opposed to trying to add it to the actual Podcast. We also discussed how important the announcement section in Blackboard is and how it keeps us abreast of things we need to know and it is a place where we can view the chat script from previous web conferences.

Web Conference Reflection 3

Week three conference on June 22, 2013 began with us talking about where to log our three web conference reflections. Professor Abernathy said that she would prefer that we put our reflections on our Google site. The reflection can be three separate ones or one reflection describing three conferences as a whole. From there, we discussed the format of our final project. The video must be recorded video, to tell our story through the video.  Our video project will be uploaded to our Google site, which the link will be uploaded to TK20. We spoke a bit about the completion of Internship hours and what is expected of us in EDLD 5398. We also spoke about good places to meet with your group. Skype, Google Hangouts, and freeconferencecalls.com are good meeting places to collaborate. Lastly, we discussed editing of the projects and how important it is to work together and explore the different ways to get things done. This was a very productive conference.
