What I've Learned...

Action research is the process by which educational professionals generate theories through research based activities that are grounded in everyday educational practices. Administrators analyze current issues that affect them, their teachers and most of all the students by collaborating with faculty, staff and fellow administrators.  By playing an active part in this research, administrators are able to implement change in their schools and district.
In the past week, I have discovered that action research is the vehicle to bringing my Internship Plan to life! Without really knowing it, the very first post I made to the discussion board in my EDLD 5311 Fundamentals of Leadership class was the framework of what may potentially become my action research plan. I thought that not working in a school would possibly hinder my learning process but I was determined to figure out a way to relate my work experience to my assignments.  I am also an extremely creative person.  I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design and also interested in discovering a way to combine my love of all things creative to my assignments as well.

I am contemplating one of the following for my action research plan:

  1.       What changes may be implemented within school that may halt dropout rate i.e. more modern curriculum, technological advancements, interactive learning, etc.?
  2.          What affect does school/classroom design (colors,   artwork, desk design, etc.) have on a students want and/or ability to learn?

How Can Educators Use Blogs?

Blogs are a wonderful place for educational leaders to introduce ideas to other educators and administrators and gain much needed feedback. Educators can spring ideas back and forth, collaborate and see what had worked for others in different districts throughout the city and state.
